Center Stage Hazelnut Cookie with Nutella Drizzle

Hi everyone! Welcome to my first cookie recipe post! I found this recipe in a library book I checked out the other day called Pillsbury Best Cookies Cookbook. So should we get started?

All the yummy things that make up the cookies!















1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup softened butter or margarine
1 cup oil
2 teaspoons orange zest
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup hazelnuts (I only have 1/2 cup, oops!!)
sugar

STEP 1 - In large bowl combine sugar, powdered sugar, butter, oil, orange zest, vanilla and eggs
















and beat until well blended





STEP 2 - Add flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and nutmeg
















All mixed!! Time to fold in the hazelnuts!





now the recipe says cover with plastic wrap and place in fridge for at least 2 hours but I only have wax paper so that will have to do!! And I am trying to speed time by using the freezer... should work right??






Now while I am waiting for the dough to chill i can take care of this mess!!





Alright so the dough is all chilled and ready to go!! Now to preheat the oven to 375 degrees!

STEP 3 - Shape dough into 1 inch balls:





Roll in sugar...




and then place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet!



lastly flatten with bottom of a glass... (as you can see I do not have a glass so I improvised...)





WOO HOO cookies!!!





now we just gotta make the nutella glaze!

1/2 cup nutella
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
4-5 tablespoons milk

All we have to do is mix all this ingredients over low heat until we reach the consistency we desire!





I think we need a bit more milk to thin it down a bit...





now just lay out allllll the cookies...





and fling the chocolate over them!! mmmmmm yummy messy goodness!!

here are my thoughts on these cookies! The only real issue I had with them was the orange flavor was too much... I think this would make an excellent sugar cookie recipe if I omitted the hazelnuts and orange zest and slapped some frosting on it!
